DUMKA: A 22-year-old resident of Jalsar in Deoghar was shot dead allegedly by his two acquaintances on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Amit Keshri, was called by two of his friends over phone at around 8:30 pm, his family claimed. The victim later informed his mother over phone at 10:30 pm that he was shot at by the duo near Jalsar pond. When his family rushed to the spot, they found him lying in a pool of blood. They took him to the sadar hospital where the attending doctors referred him to Rims Ranchi considering the severity of his injuries, but he succumbed midway.
The shot, according to the doctors, was fired on his back from point blank range. "Two persons — Monu Thathera and
Nitish Kumar — have been named by the family members of the deceased in the FIR," Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jaat said, adding that the incident prima facie appears to have been caused by a dispute over drugs.
