Large Tornado Hits Little Rock, Ark., as Central U.S. Braces for Severe Weather

At least 24 people injured; mayor requests National Guard assistance over ‘devastating tornado’

A large tornado touched down Friday in Little Rock, Ark., part of a major storm system forecast to bring severe weather across the central U.S. 

The National Weather Service said it had received reports of downed trees and power lines as well as damaged homes around the city. There were no immediate reports of fatalities, the agency said. At least 24 people have been hospitalized, according to Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr.
