KANPUR: A market complex built by notorious criminal Anees alias Pashu of Etawah was razed by the district administration on Thursday.
Anees, owner of the shopping complex worth Rs 7 crore in Katra Furdal Khan, has nearly 47 criminal cases, including of robbery, murder and extortion, registered against him at various police stations of the district. “The building was demolished after irregularities were found in the map,” said a senior district official.
Anees's son Munna too has 12 criminal cases registered against him. His wife Kahkashan Begum was twice elected corporator from the Urdu Mohalla ward. The administration team reached the complex built in Katra Furdal Khan at 8 am with six bulldozers in tow.
Before demolishing the complex, the district administration informed about the action through the traditional ‘munadi’ practice.
SP City Kapil Dev, along with senior officers and police force of several police stations, were present on the occasion and supervised the demolition drive. Additional District Magistrate Jai Prakash told media persons that the commercial building owned by gangster Anees was constructed not as per the map approved. “Instructions were given for the process of demolition, as also a time limit was fixed and action was taken accordingly, today,” said the ADM. Tnn
