Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 7.73%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 5.38%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 4.71%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 4.08%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 3.67%), Rana Sugars(up 3.53%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 3.29%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 3.16%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 3.15%) and Uttam Sugar Mills(up 2.03%) stood among the top gainers.

K.M.Sugar Mills(down 1.52%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.20%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(down 0.50%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 279.05 points up at 17359.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1031.43 points at 58991.52.

Reliance Industries(up 4.31%), Nestle India(up 3.42%), Infosys(up 3.21%), ICICI Bank(up 3.08%), Tata Motors(up 2.83%), Tata Consultancy(up 2.13%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.92%), Axis Bank(up 1.89%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.87%) and Wipro(up 1.73%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.19%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.89%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.75%), Asian Paints(down 0.32%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.15%), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.04%) and Titan Company Ltd(down 0.01%) closed in the red.
