Egypt will open new textile factories in July this year for the government project to develop the spinning and weaving sector, Mansour Abdel-Ghani, spokesperson for the ministry of public business sector, recently announced. The project, being implemented by the Holding Company for Cotton, Spinning, Weaving and Clothes, aims at maximising the yield of long-staple and extra-long cotton and adding factories based on by-products like those of oil pressing and fodder, he said.
The development plan aims at raising the operational capacity of the state-controlled companies in a single shift and increase the number of work shifts, thereby increasing production capacity, Egyptian media reported.
