NOIDA: The traffic police issued an advisory for diverting vehicles on Captain Shashikant Sharma Road outside Sector 52 metro station from April 2 as the foot overbridge (FOB) pillar will be shifted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The project will be completed in 1-2 months.
DCP (traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav said the department has received a request from DMRC for the shifting of the pillar. "Accordingly, we have issued diversion plans from April 2."
This is an important route where traffic coming from 7X sectors, and also from sectors 60 and 62 and Greater Noida West navigates through Sector 52 towards Noida City Centre, Golf Course, Sector 73, Botanical Garden and Kalindi Kunj.
People coming from Greater Noida West for City Centre have been advised to take the underpass and bypass Sector 52 for commuting. The traffic coming from sectors 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, etc., will be diverted onto Sector 51's internal road near Manav Rachna International School for the onward journey.
The 5.9-metre-high pillar of the FOB has been obstructing traffic flow from Sector 52 towards City Centre. According to the DMRC, they developed and opened the FOB for the public in 2019 after obtaining all necessary approvals from the authorities. Initially, its pillar was lying on the median between the carriageway of the main road and the service road and did not cause any obstruction to traffic. But in 2021, the Noida Authority constructed a six-lane underpass in the area, remodelling the carriageway, which brought the pillar to the middle of the road.
The Authority has funded the project for the removal of FOB's pillar, while DMRC is executing the work.
Amit Gupta, a resident of Sector 77, said he had been raising the issue for last two years.
