Rs 1L reward to Cumbharjua braveheart

Porvorim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday awarded Rs 1 lakh to Ankurkumar Prasad, a Class IV student from Cumbharjua, who rescued three boys from drowning in a river last week. The chief minister also said that the state government will recommend Ankurkumar’s name for the national bravery award in the children’s category.
The legislative assembly also congratulated the 10-year-old Ankurkumar for his valour on a congratulatory motion moved by opposition leader Yuri Alemao. Alemao had also demanded that the boy’s name be recommended for national bravery award in the children’s category.
Sawant told the House that earlier in the day, Ankurkumar’s parents and teachers were also felicitated. Applauding the boy, the CM said that it’s an inspirational story for others. Ankurkumar went out of his way to rescue his friends, risking his life, Sawant said. Bihar governor Rajendra Arlekar also congratulated Ankurkumar. TNN
