Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.55% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 11:16AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Granules India(up 5.43 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 4.43 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 2.42 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 2.37 per cent) and Sanofi India(up 2.31 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Lupin(down 1.33 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.67 per cent), Pfizer(down 0.46 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.41 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.22 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.55 per cent at 12008.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 162.65 points at 17243.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 591.23 points at 58551.32.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BEL, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Pondy Oxides, Asian Hotels, Bharat Wire Ropes, Vertexplus Technolo and Network People Services Technologies Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while LCC Infotech Ltd., Nirman Agri Genetics, KHFM Hospitality, Xelpmoc Design and Eastern Silk hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
