124 test positive in Himachal Pradesh, 115 in Haryana; Punjab logs 59 new cases, 1 death

CHANDIGARH/SHIMLA: As many as 124 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday even as the total number of active went up to 798. According to the state health department, a total 2,191 people were tested, out of which 124 were found to be positive. The highest number of 31 cases were reported from Mandi district followed by 17 in Kangra, 15 in Bilaspur and 12 in Shimla.
In Haryana, 115 people tested positive, taking the total number of cases to 10,57,534. The numbers of deaths recorded till date are 10,714. “We have directed all hospitals which can handle Covid cases to ensure that their ICUs, ventilators and Covid wards are prepared in case we need to reserve them within 24 hours’ notice. The hospitalisation rate is low, but we are gearing up in case there is a spike. It is important for people to avoid stepping out if they have Covid or flu-like symptoms. They should isolate themselves for five days and follow all Covid protocols,” said Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Punjab reported 59 cases of Covid-19 while one person in Ludhiana died on Wednesday. A total of 2,874 tests were conducted in the state of which 17 cases were reported in Mohali, 11 in Jalandhar, six each in Amritsar and Ludhiana, five in Ferozepur, four in Kapurthala, three each in Bathinda and Ropar, two in Patiala and one each in Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Covid cases have been on the rise in the three states for the past one month.
