GUWAHATI: Congress MLAs stormed the assembly campus on Wednesday, shouting slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi and holding placards in black attire in protest against the disqualification of the Congress leader from Lok Sabha.
The protest was part of the ongoing countrywide protest by Congress on Rahul’s disqualification, as the
budget session of the assembly resumed on Wednesday after a gap of a week.
Donning black attire, Congress legislators took out a protest rally from the official residence of the leader of opposition Debabrata Saikia to the state assembly building gate. The Congress legislators assembled from their quarters, located on the greater assembly campus here in Dispur.
“Democracy is in danger in the country. Rahul Gandhi was stripped off his parliamentary seat instantly and the government tried to negate the role of opposition,” said Debabrata Saikia.
Congress MLAs raised slogans like “Rahul Gandhi Zindabad”, “Save Democracy”, “Save Constitution” and “We Stand with Rahul Gandhi”, before entering the House in black clothes.
