As reported by Patently Apple, Samsung Display has begun developing an OLED display for the 13.3-inches Apple MacBook Air and will be the exclusive supplier. However, what’s unknown at present is when the first OLED-based MacBook Air is planning to launch in the market.
As per the market survey, Apple is reportedly developing new displays for the iPad Pro initially followed by the MacBook Air. Before the mass manufacturing of finished products, Apple executes a two-year product development project. But, the mass production timetable for important components, such as panels, has not been disclosed.

The OLED for the iPad that will be available in a year will use the Two Stack Tandem way of stacking two light-emitting layers, whereas the OLED for the MacBook Air that Samsung Display is now developing is expected to use the Single Stack method.
As we know, all OLEDs for IT devices, including the OLED iPad that Apple will ship next year, use a type of OLED known as a “hybrid OLED” that encapsulates a glass substrate with a thin film.
