SBI manager files plaint over impersonation in funds transfer
Vasco: Verna police have registered a case against an unidentified person for cheating the branch manager of State Bank of India (SBI), Verna industrial estate branch to the tune of Rs 8.9 lakh.
Police said that the SBI branch manager, Lovely Ashwini Chaurasia stated in her complaint that some unknown accused contacted her on her mobile phone between 3.19pm and 5.20pm on March 9 by impersonating Prashant Kamat, a businessman who is a well-known customer of the same branch.
Chaurasia’s complaint stated that the unknown person induced her to transfer Rs 8.9 lakh from the account belonging to Kamat to an ICICI Bank account located at Gola branch in Patna, Bihar for medical expenses.
An offence under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the unknown person.
Police sub-inspector Anand Gaonkar is investigating the case under the supervision of police inspector Diogo Gracias.
