Demand for electric vehicles is exploding around the world, stressing the supply chain for EV battery materials. That has auto makers such as Ford and Tesla looking to lock up supplies of these key components.
Ford Motor (ticker: F) on Thursday signed an agreement with a subsidiary of global mining giant Vale (VALE) and China’s Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt (603700.China) to “advance more sustainable nickel production in Indonesia and help make electric vehicle-batteries more affordable.”
