The Piano's Lucy really is a role model - teacher

A 13-year-old blind pianist who amazed audiences on a TV show has been praised by her music teacher for the impact of her performance.

Lucy, from West Yorkshire, was awarded performance of the night during the final of Channel 4's The Piano.

Dan Bloom, who has taught her music for more than nine years, said: "Lucy really is a role model."

Lucy performed in Leeds on 29 March at the unveiling of a blue plaque to honour Leeds pianist Dame Fanny Waterman.
