Chandrapur: Chandrapur and Ballarpur towns were painted saffron as grand rally, which started from Ballarpur, reached Chandrapur with the first consignment of teakwood for Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday.
Forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and his wife performed Kashta (wood) puja at FDCM depot. UP’s higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay, minister of state for forest and environment minister Arun Saxena, guardian minister of Banaras, Ravindra Jayaswal and treasurer of Shriram Janmbhoomi Trith trust, Acharya Govind Mishra, also took part in the ritual.
“Raja Dhashrath’s mother Indumati (the grandmother of Lord Rama) belonged to Vidarbha. Chandrapur has again revived its relations with Ayodhya by sending the teakwood for the temple,” he said. He also thanked Mungantiwar for making it a grand event. UP’s minister Saxena thanked the people of Chandrapur and Ballarpur for providing excellent quality teakwood.
“The grand entrance gate and all the doors and their frames will be built with the teakwood from Chandrapur. Every devotee bowing his head at the door frame will remember Chandrapur’s contribution for the cause,” he said.
The grand rally with different kind tableau and groups of artists performing along the street started from forest depot in Ballarpur and reached Shri Ram temple in the town. After a brief puja at Mahakali temple in city, the rally reached Chanda club ground where a grand religious musical programme of famous singer Kailash Kher was organized.
A total of 43 types of folk art, martial arts, yoga mallakhamba, dindi, tribal dance, Dhol-patka, dhwajapatka were performed in the rally. A total of 1,946 artists from across the state took part in the rally.
