Porvorim: Treated water supply to South Goa will be augmented by another 100MLD as a third water treatment plant will be constructed at Opa, taking the total water treatment capacity to 260MLD.
“For the very first time, we have received approval for Rs 367 crore financial assistance from SIDBI under the Cluster Development Fund for a 100MLD treatment plant at Opa, which is extremely important to meet the water requirement of South Goa,” said Sawant, in his budget speech.
For water supply, a budget provision of Rs 663.6 crore has been made.
“My government aims to make drinking water available in sufficient quantities. To ensure supply of 100 LPCD (litres per person (capita) per day) in rural areas and 150 LPCD in urban areas, my government has started preparing an annual action plan, and work in this direction is in mission mode to prepare the annual work plan for five years. Within the next six months, the scheme will be ready for rollout,” said Sawant.
