PUNE CITY police have arrested two youths, one of whom was allegedly sitting as a dummy candidate in place of the other, at a written examination for the post of ‘cook’ at GREF Centre Border Roads Organisation of the Ministry of Defence.
Police have identified the accused as Deepu Kumar (23) of Bihar and Shailendra Singh (24) of Uttar Pradesh.
In this connection, Rahul Rathi, an executive engineer at the GREF Centre Border Roads Organisation at Alandi Road in Dighi Camp, has lodged an FIR at Vishrantwadi police station.
A written examination for the post of ‘cook’ at this organisation was conducted on Tuesday morning.
Police said Singh was supposed to appear for the examination. But the supervisor found that accused Deepu appeared as a dummy candidate in Singh’s place.
The supervisor then informed the police at the spot. Cops nabbed Deepu immediately. Police further arrested Singh, who was waiting outside the examination centre.
Police have booked the duo under sections 419, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
“The accused were produced before a court on Wednesday. The court remanded them to police custody for five days. Further probe is on,” said sub inspector Nitin Rathod, investigating officer.
