A freight train carrying goods, including apparel, departed for Kazakhstan's Kostanay on March 25 from Dingxi City in northwest China's Gansu province. Loaded with 55 containers with a cargo value of nearly $3 million, the train will pass through Khorgos Port in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It marks the first international freight service launched in Dingxi to a Central Asian country, a state-controlled Chinese news agency reported.

The nine-day journey will cover 5,170 kilometres.
