Army jawan, 35, arrested in abetment to suicide case: Cops

A 35-year-old Army jawan has been arrested on the charges of abetment of suicide of a 21-year-old woman. He allegedly promised to marry her. The woman died by suicide on March 25.

A probe in this regard is being conducted at the Uttamnagar Police Station. Inspector Sunil Jaitapurkar, the police station in charge, said, “The Army jawan is of havildar rank, and is currently posted at the National Defence Academy. He lives in the academy quarters. The woman taught his son at their house. It has been alleged that he promised to marry her.” On March 25, the woman was found hanging at her home in Pune. An FIR in the case was filed by the woman’s elder brother on Tuesday, based on which the police have booked the Army jawan.
