THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With
Kerala accounting for the maximum number of
Covid cases in the country, the daily Covid case upload has stopped on the directorate of health services (DHS) website. It was on March 21 that DHS had last updated Covid cases reported in the state at 172, the highest number since the pandemic subsided.
After a mistake occurred in data entry over the inclusion of non-Covid deaths from Thrissur the daily uploading of Covid cases stopped. The three deaths in Thrissur were mistakenly included as Covid deaths. When this was realized, a decision was taken by authorities to review the entire Covid data. This is the official version given by authorities for not uploading daily cases on the DHS website now. DHS officials also made it clear that uploading of daily cases will resume soon.
However, Kerala is reporting its daily cases to the Union health ministry, and it is being updated by the ministry's website. According to the latest data available from this website, Kerala reported 191 cases on Monday and the total number of active cases is 2,662, the highest in India. Maharashtra has 2,212 active cases followed by Gujarat (1849). The total number of active cases in the country is 10,981 (as on March 27).
A dashboard was created by the health department online to make available all details about the number of positive cases, cases getting discharged, number of deaths, number of tests done each day. All these were made available date wise and district wise right from the beginning of the pandemic in Kerala. But, this dashboard became non-functional after September 9, 2022.
As per DHS dashboard, the total number of Covid deaths in state till September 9 was 71,123. At present the total deaths in state has become 71606 as per the data available from the Union health ministry.
