UPSSSC examination ‘solver’ gang busted, 8 held
Kanpur: In a joint operation, the Crime Branch and Hanumant Vihar Police have busted an exam solver gang in the UPSSSC (UP Subordinate Services Selection Commission) examination held on Sunday. Three solvers, four examinees and an assistant manager of the college have been arrested. The material for copying and cash worth Rs 3 lakh have also been recovered from them.
DCP South Salman Taj Patil said that Chitra Degree College, located at Gallamandi Arrah Road, was made the center of UPSSSC examination on Sunday. Acting on a specific tip-off, the police raided the college, where the college’s assistant manager, Kamlesh Katiyar (a resident of Basant Vihar) was caught helping four UPSSSC examinees with the help of three solvers. Police arrested Vinay Kumar, resident of Kakadeo, Saurabh Mishra, resident of Rawatpur, Anurag Dubey, resident of Panki, along with Katiyar.
Apart from this, four examinees Sujit Yadav and Vijay Pratap Singh, residents of Lucknow, Sandeep Kumar, resident of Manas Nagar (Hardoi Sandila) and Amar Singh Yadav, resident of Prayagraj, were arrested. An FIR was lodged against the accused under sections of cheating, conspiracy and examination act and were sent to jail. Nine mobile phones, two vehicles, photocopies of OMR sheets etc. have been recovered from the accused.
According to the police, the assistant manager had fixed the deal for Rs 3.30 lakh per student. About 3 lakh rupees were also taken as advance from the three students. The rest of the money was to be given after the examination. Three lakh rupees in cash and 50,000 have been recovered from Vinay's bank account, which were transferred by the assistant manager. Vinay used to deal with monetary transactions.
All the solvers used to remain stationed outside the exam center. According to the DCP, the manager used to WhatsApp the OMR sheet to the solvers by taking a photo of the OMR sheet. After this, the answers were sent by the solvers to the examinees.
