Two country-made pistols, air gun seized from HM cadre
Coimbatore: Police on Tuesday arrested Hindu Munnani district vice-president B Ravichandran alias Ayothi Ravi, 45, for possessing two country-made pistols, five live rounds and an air gun illegally, at Masal Layout near Puliyakulam in the city.
During his daughter’s birthday celebration on March 23 at his residence, Ravi showed a pistol loaded with two bullets to his friend D Deepak from Vellalore.
He accidentally fired a bullet from the pistol, which lodged at Deepak’s left thigh.
Deepak was taken to a private hospital on Thadagam Road. Two days later, Deepak was taken to a private hospital at Thennampalayam for further treatment. Ravi told doctors at the hospital Deepak suffered a bullet injury while hunting wild boars.
Meanwhile, Ramanahtapuram police inspector Senthilkumar learned about the incident and picked up Ravi from his grandmother’s residence at Ramanathapuram in the city. Police also seized two country-made pistols, five live rounds, and an air gun from the house.
Police said Ravi received a pistol from Vinoth of Selvapuram in 2018. He bought another pistol at PN Pudur with the help of Bottle Baskar, 45, of Rayapuram in Chennai, for Rs 90,000.
The Ramanathapuram police registered a case and arrested Ravi.
