BHUBANESWAR: In order to generate interest among people about the G20 events under India’s presidency, several Jan Bhagidari events will be held across 30 districts of Odisha from April 1, coinciding with Utkal Divas.
These events, aimed at creating interest, awareness and participation of common people, including women and youth in the third G20 Education Working Group Meeting, are scheduled to be held from April 27 to 29 in the capital city.
“Monthlong parallel brainstorming sessions covering 35 institutions in Odisha will be held on Future of Work in the fields relevant to all districts of Odisha. Through these events, common people will be made aware about the G20 presidency of India, its benefits and feel proud of it,” said Sonal Mishra, joint secretary, ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship. These programmes and activities will be led by youth and women, she added.
Delegations from G20 countries will participate in the main event from April 27 to 29 and deliberate on the four identified priority areas — foundational literacy and numeracy, tech enabled learning, future of work and research collaboration.
In case of Odisha, the theme is Future of Work and the focus will be on widespread deliberations and effective outreach in every district on the emerging skilling requirements and the need for continuous skilling, reskilling and up-skilling as relevant to the district, Mishra added.
Precursor events to the G20 Education Working Group Meetings will start from April 23 to 25 at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar. “These events will be organised in collaboration with various central institutions and industry bodies. State-run educational institutes will also be involved in the events and discussions. Students-academia and industry connect would be a core element of all the events. Accordingly, young entrepreneurs and startups will be invited to the state to share their experiences,” said Neeta Prasad, secretary, ministry of education.
The focus will be on strengthening international collaboration and support in germinating a framework for Future of Work. Deliberations would be held on various topics like Deep Tech with a focus on advanced technology in future of work, Artificial intelligence, automation, machine learning, transforming logistics with a special thrust on coastal economies and their infrastructure and skill architecture and governance models. The experts will also prepare a road map, policy initiative and recommendations, which they will submit to the government for active consideration, Prasad said.
