Nagpur: City police chief Amitesh Kumar on Monday said night life would be allowed unhindered but it would have to follow police guidelines.
The CP is set to frame guidelines after discussions with owners of bars, night clubs, pubs, restro-lounges and such places, and also invoke stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act against accused who ransacked Sangram Beer Bar last week.
On Friday, a woman had nearly disrobed outside a Wardha Road night club after she was denied entry due to the late hour. She had created a ruckus and abused the security guards, and fled after cops reached the place. “We are now trying to trace the woman. If the pub owner files a complaint, a case would be registered against her,” he said, adding the woman would be counselled by Bharosa cell or social service branch cops.
Earlier, there was a fracas at the same night club with a woman being pushed by another group of customers around two weeks ago, which had led to some fighting.
Kumar said his guidelines would revolve around dance floor permissions, DJ noise, which should not be heard outside even while opening doors, disciplined parking outside the venues, and strict adherence to the closing deadline of 1.30am. “Police are not against night life and enjoyment, but such activities should not have any adverse repercussions on our law and order or crime too,” said the CP.
Kumar also said there has been a spurt in the number of bars in last few months. “Action would be initiated against pubs, restro-lounges and bars if they are found violating norms. They would be asked to keep and maintain CCTV footage,” said the top cop.
