Panaji: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged multi-crore land scam has registered another first information report (FIR) pertaining to fraudulent transfer of land located in Parra.

The first information report has been registered against Branca Diniz, Royson Rodrigues and others.

According to police, Rodrigues is one of the masterminds in the land scam and he was earlier arrested by police in more than one case of land fraud.

Referring to the case, the police said the accused persons prepared forged/fake sale deed of the year 1996 and executed a succession deed. They further presented the forged documents before the office of mamlatdar of Bardez as genuine and succeeded in carrying out mutation process pertaining to a property in Parra.

It may be noted that the state government formed a SIT in June 2022 and so far over 45 FIRs have been registered pertaining to fraudulent transfer of land.
