Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday said the temple encroaching on Nayapalli Haza will be demolished, after the order of National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The NGT has ruled that encroachment of the land under the garb of temple or otherwise is not permissible and needs to be removed forthwith. The green panel said BMC or Bhubaneswar Development Authority may take the help of police to carry out the demolition.
“I have visited several times the area of Nayapalli Haza. The temple has been built illegally. We will go through the order and plan its demolition,” said BMC commissioner Vijay Kulange.
He said the water body is a source for natural drainage channel no. 10 that leads to waterlogging in Behera Sahi and ISKCON Temple area.
