Coforge(down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was up 0.57 per cent at 28093.95 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 88.65 points at 17033.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 287.81 points at 57814.91.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pondy Oxides, IZMO, Nagreeka Capital, Binani Ind and W S Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Clariant Chem, Future Consumer, Vikas Proppant & Gr, Future Enterprises and Techindia Nirman hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
