JAIPUR: In support of Rahul Gandhi following his disqualification from the Lok Sabha, state Congress leaders and party workers held day-long "Sankalp Satyagraha" protests in all districts, including Jaipur, on Sunday.
Teming the disqualification as "murder of democracy", state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara said, "The truth is being suppressed and democracy being killed by the BJP. Gandhi was questioning the relation between prime minister Modi and Adani and it was to suppress his voice that his membership of the Lok Sabha was terminated."
Dotsara announced that on March 28 a "Jan Jagaran" march will start from Udaipur division, followed by a similar march in other divisions including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, Bharatpur and Jaipur.
Food minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas asked what wrong did Rahul Gandhi do by calling a thief a thief. "Rahul Gandhi did not call any caste a thief. He called those who looted the country as thieves. Are Vijay Mallya, Mehul Choksi, Lalit Modi not thieves? PM Modi should declare that Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi are not thieves," he said.
"When the Adani scam happened, the entire opposition demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe the scam. But the BJP is scared," he added. Bees attacked Congress workers at a protest in Bikaner where energy minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati was also present.
