NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man died after he allegedly fell in a well in southwest Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area, police said on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Pawan, a native of Faridabad.
The incident took place in a park. Due to the darkness, Pawan could not notice the open space and "accidentally" fell into the 12-foot deep well, according to police.
A 20-year-old woman reported the incident at a police post in Subroto Park around 8.40pm on Saturday. "A team along with the woman went to the park, near Pump House II," an officer said.
The fire department received a PCR call at 9.01 pm and three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and at 11.35 pm, the operation was over. The body was recovered and sent for postmortem.
"Except for the complainant, there is no witness to ascertain foul play. The investigation is under way. We are trying to find if there was a guard to stop the entry of public in the park," the officer said.
