Biker rams truck parked without brake lights, dies in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 24-year-old biker died in a road accident near Maduravoyal on Saturday night, after he rammed a truck that was parked on the roadside. Police arrested the lorry driver, Krishna Kumar, on Sunday.
The Koyambedu Traffic Investigation Wing police identified the deceased as Suresh Kumar, a software engineer at a private company in Ambattur.
On Saturday night, he was on his way back home to Sai Nagar in Kundrathur. He smashed into the truck when he was travelling along the Maduravoyal-Tambaram 200-Feet-Road.
Suresh Kumar sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where doctors there declared him dead. His body was then sent for postmortem.
Police suspect the biker to have believed that the truck had been moving as the vehicle had no parking lights on.
Police have advised truck drivers not to park vehicles on the roadside. Violation of this rule will attract a fine up to ₹500 depending on the category of vehicles, as per existing government norms.
