Rehab centre for PwDs faces staff crunch
Bhubaneswar: The Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) meant to do fabrication and fitment of prosthesis and orthosis for the persons with disabilities and also accident victims in the city, ran into trouble due to shortage of manpower and alleged irregular attendance by current staff members.
The Advanced Rehabilitation Centre in Bhubaneswar, a one of its kind facility, came into existence in 2019.
Conceptualised by the social security and empowerment of persons with disabilities department, the aim of the Advanced Rehabilitation Centre was to provide rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities as well as those suffering from trauma because of accidents.
The centre, equipped with an advanced robotic rehabilitation system for the rehabilitation of persons with neurological disorders and trauma conditions, targeted to take 350 patients per month for the robotic rehabilitation therapy and simultaneously do prosthesis and orthosis for artificial limbs of at least 100 people per month.
