Canacona: The Centre has granted technical, administrative, and financial approval towards land acquisition for the four-laning project of the national highway-66 between Char-Rasta Canacona and Bendurdem (Quepem).
A communique from the ministry of road transport and highways, regional office, Mumbai, signed by the under secretary to the government of India, mentions the approval granted towards land acquisition cost of Rs 73.6 crore, besides an additional 1% of contingency charges, 3% of agency charges, and 2.5% of administrative charges, taking the overall sanctioned amount to Rs 75.4 crore.
The project will be taken up in two phases. The first phase will entail Rs 30 crore, which comprises 40% of the project, while the second phase will be taken up in 2024-25.
Land owners will be paid compensation.
The proposed land to be acquired is 2.9 lakh sqm, which consists of 64,474 sqm in Bendurdem at Rs 120 per sqm, 63,077 sqm at Cordem at Rs 240, 70,381 sqm at Barcem Rs 240, 17,373 sqm at Paddi at Rs 240, 46,564 sqm at Canacona at 300, 30,437 sqm at Nagorcem-Palolem at Rs 2,400.
The total value of land to be acquired works out to Rs 13.9 crore, while the compensation component towards structures and trees amounts to Rs 3.5 crore.
