Jaipur: Illegal firearms and ammunition are now a click away from delivery. A team of crime branch of Jaipur police Saturday arrested a 19-year-old man who sold weapons through social media.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Kailash Chand Bishnoi have arrested Subash Yadav, a resident Shyosinghpura under Binadyka police station area of Jaipur. He said that the crime branch has seized one pistol and two cartridges from the accused.
The primary investigation has revealed that Yadav purchased the illegal weapon for Rs 6,000 from one Vishal Gurjar. The accused posted picture of the same weapon on a social media and sold it for Rs 9,000.
This is a first case in recent times of weapons being sold online. Sources said that online delivery of weapons could emerge as new challenge. “It is for this very purpose that crime branch and IT experts have been instructed to keep working on leads that could help us track down such criminals on cyberspace,” said an official
Senior crime branch officials said they were examining other persons associated with the racket. “We will examine all those who were connected with the accused,” the official added.
Police said that they have already identified the supplier who sold illegal weapon to Yadav.
“Teams have fanned out in different directions to arrest the suspect who sold weapons to Yadav,” police said.
