Coimbatore: Former municipal administration minister S P Velumani on Saturday said the funds allocated by the government for road work was insufficient.
Inaugurating a pandal that the AIADMK set up at Kovaipudur to distribute free buttermilk and drinking water to the public during summer, Velumani said the DMK should stop blaming the previous government and work for the benefit of the people by bringing new projects.
“It has been two years since DMK formed the government. But it has not brought any project for Coimbatore so far. People are unhappy with the government,” he said.
Pointing out that the previous AIADMK government had implemented various projects to improve the infrastructure of Coimbatore, Velumani said the DMK had cancelled 500 road projects proposed by them for Coimbatore. “The government is yet to take up the work. Funds allocated for laying the roads are insufficient.”
He said the roads that were dug for drinking water projects and underground drainage were not restored, causing difficulties for people.
