Ranchi Municipal Corporation provides free bus rides to revellers
RANCHI: As Sarhul processions returned to the streets of Ranchi after a span of three years, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) made arrangements for free transport, free toilets, water facilities and other amenities.
RMC has provided a total of 25 free buses for its residents. Umesh Khalko, a devotee who came from Mandar, said, "To participate in the festival, I have travelled from Mandar. The bus that I took from Mandar to Kathal More dropped me off there, and from Kathal More, I got a free bus ride. I will also take the bus on my way back home."
The free bus service was provided on routes such as Namkum, Siramtoli to Hehal, Kanke, and Booty More where the number of attendees was the highest. However, according to some travellers, the number of buses provided by the government is insufficient to accommodate all the devotees. Shakshi Tirki, a devotee from Kanke, said, "There was a lot of rush on each buses. There should be more buses available."
Rajnish Kumar, deputy municipal commissioner, said, "The services are provided to local residents so that everyone, regardless of their economic standing, can participate in the festival."
