Cop lens on WhatsApp group formed by ex-girlfriend

BHUBANESWAR: Capital police have learnt that three women, including the former girlfriend of city-based popular DJ Azex, also known as Akshay Kumar Maharana, who allegedly died by suicide on March 18, had formed a WhatsApp group to expose him.
Based on preliminary inquiry, the police have learned that Azex (27) had been flirting with different women, much to the chagrin of his girlfriend, who broke up with him a few days before his death. After the break-up, the woman, befriended the two other women, who, and created the group.
“We already questioned his ex-girlfriend twice. She told us that he was in relationships with other girls. When asked her about the group, she said it was just for fun. We will interrogate the other two girls,” police said.
Asked about the motive behind the suicide, police said Azex was under stress following the break-up. He was also upset when he came to know about the group formed against him. The police found out about the group while examining his phone .
A few hours before March 18, when Azex allegedly hanged himself at his home in Kharavel Nagar area here, he sent an email to his ex-girlfriend and informed her about his suicide plan.
