Councillors fire salvos at officials, MLAs; mayor plays peacemaker
Ludhiana: Upset over non-development in their respective wards, councillors from different political parties directed their anger towards officials and AAP MLAs in the last meeting of current MC general house on Friday.
Mayor Balkar Sandhu urged the councillors to stick only to the budget and maintain harmony in the house on the last working day of their tenure.
Senior SAD councillor Harbhajan Dang questioned the MC commissioner about works which were approved long back but were pending till now. He said, “Our term is going to end on Saturday, but we will keep coming to MC offices for public. I request all the MLAs to invite councillors from these wards when they will inaugurate development works of these wards as the same were approved after a lot of hard work.”
Congress councillor Gurpreet Gopi said officials could not construct a road in his ward using plastic waste. He said the road work is pending for long even when plastic is available in abundance. Congress councillor Baljinder Banty raised question marks on the working of MC officials for not constructing roads in his ward for the past two years.
The MC commissioner directed the officials to provide every detail about the development works of wards to the councillors. She said as far as inaugurations are concerned, every resident from the respective ward is invited for the same, so councillors should not feel bad about it.
