Insta friend rapes 10-yr-old

Rajkot: A 10-year-old girl, who had left her house in a huff, was allegedly raped by 22-year-old man who she had befriended on Instagram.
The girl, who studies at a prominent English medium school of the city, had left the house after a fight with her father over mobile phone on the night of March 20. Police said she took away her father's phone while he was sleeping and left the house taking his scooter.

"The girl then called up the accused who works in a restaurant. He allegedly took her to a hotel and showed an Aadhar card of an Ahmedabad girl so that her age wasn't revealed. The girl alleged that he raped her in the hotel room," assistant commissioner of police, Bhargav Pandya said.
The girl's father, who is a businessman, told police that they had gone out for dinner on March 20 and returned home at around 11pm. After coming home, his daughter picked up a fight with her over mobile. When other family members went to sleep, the girl left the house.
The girl’s father said when he woke up at 11:30pm, the girl was nowhere to be seen. The man said that he also noticed that his mobile was missing and the house main door was open and the scooter missing.
The family approached the Gandhigram police at around 5:15am on March 21 and an offence of kidnapping was lodged. Meanwhile, the girl returned and went to her aunt's house which is close to theirs. When family members inquired, she revealed her ordeal.
"In the recent past, the girl and her family had gone to the restaurant where she met the accused. They connected on Instagram and exchanged numbers," said Pandya.
The girl's parents got divorced five years ago. Her father told police that his wife got remarried and went to Mumbai. Since then, his daughter used to remain depressed, the ACP added.
The accused was booked for rape and under sections of Pocso Act.
