Body of youth found in Borim well

Ponda: The body of Akshay Askaukar, 24, a resident of Deulwada, Borim, in Ponda taluka, was found floating in a well in the vicinity of his residence on Friday.
Ponda police said the youth went missing on Wednesday afternoon and a missing person’s complaint was consequently registered at the Ponda police station.
Ponda police inspector Vijaykumar Chodankar said after the cops received information that a body was floating in a well, emergency services personnel rushed to the site and fished it out.
A postmortem examination that was conducted at the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, on Friday pointed to asphyxia due to drowning as the cause of death.
Askaukar’s body was later handed over to his father for the last rites.
A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Ponda police station. Investigation is under way.
