Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as a Member of Parliament may have come today, but, in a way, the seeds of this event were sown nearly a decade ago when Rahul had just stepped into active politics and was the Congress vice-president. Rahul had appeared at a press conference addressed by Ajay Maken in 2013 and said it should be torn off to nullify the SC verdict striking down Section 8(4) of the RP Act, which gave protection to convicted MPs from disqualification for three months.
