Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Lexus Granito(down 9.18%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 3.54%), 20 Microns(down 3.13%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 2.84%), Oriental Trimex(down 2.36%), NMDC Ltd(down 2.34%), Coal India(down 2.30%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 2.13%), KIOCL(down 1.85%) and Pokarna(down 1.73%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 131.85 points down at 16945.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 398.18 points at 57527.1.

Cipla(up 0.94%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.74%), Infosys(up 0.44%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.39%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.24%), Tech Mahindra(up 0.23%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.14%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.11%), Wipro(up 0.07%) and Asian Paints(up 0.03%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finserv(down 3.83%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.15%), Adani Enterprises(down 2.97%), Tata Steel(down 2.67%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.61%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.59%), Coal India(down 2.3%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.23%), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.08%) and Reliance Industries(down 1.98%) closed in the red.
