Thiruvananthapuram: The technical bids of KIIFB sponsored Pettah-Anayara-Oruvathilkotta project will be opened on Monday.
Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) has invited tenders for the project at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore.
The government had given financial sanction for the work for an amount of Rs. 133.60 crore. As per the tender document, the length of the road for widening of stretch 1 comes to 2.440 km, stretch 2 is 1.200 km and formation of new road will be at 170m.
Footpath is proposed on both sides of the road, covering the width allotted for laying pipes by Kerala water authority (KWA). For stretch 1, pavement work includes dismantling existing pavement and correcting to the level as per DPR. Eleven bus shelters on either side of the road have been proposed on stretch 1.
There will be two bus shelters on stretch 2. The cost of utility shifting for KWA will be Rs 3.3 crore and for shifting sewer lines an amount of Rs 9.4 crore will be required. The KRFB estimates a total expense of Rs 40. 25 crore for the project, including utility shifting of KSEB that will require Rs 1.72 crore. The project is expected to be completed in less than two years.
In June, the district administration had begun distribution of the compensation for 614 landowners who gave up their land for development of Pettah-Anayara-Oruvathilkotta road.
Lands belonging to 614 owners were acquired from either side for the road development. As many as 428 land owners who are included in category A will receive a total amount Rs 54 lakh. A panel of advocates comprising 19 members was constituted to scrutinize the land documents of owners who have given up their land for road development.
The district collector, Thiruvananthapuram, had submitted the proposal of district level fair compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement committee (DLFC) with regard to the acquisition of 164.67 ares of land in Kadakampally village for the development of Pettah - Anayara - Oruvathilkotta road. The state level empowered committee meeting held in April 2022 had approved the land value.
