International Forest Day: 4,000 baby turtles released into sea off Chennai coast

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu forest department celebrated the International Forest Day by releasing more than 4,000 Olive Ridley hatchlings into the sea off Elliot’s Beach in Chennai on Friday.
Forest minister M Mathiventhan released the baby turtles.
The minister flagged off a rally to create awareness on the need to protect forest and wild animals. He participated in a beach cleaning drive by students and forest enthusiasts.
