Gurgaon: A 46-year-old security guard was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl in Sector 29. The minor was heading towards her uncle’s house when she was intercepted by the guard, who took her to his room and sexually assaulted her.
The crime took place on Sunday, while the matter was reported to police on Wednesday after the girl identified the man.
The minor’s mother in her complaint mentioned that on Sunday the girl returned home from her uncle’s house crying. Upon enquiring, she told her mother that she was taken to a room by a stranger, who assaulted her when she tried to raise the alarm and raped her. The accused threatened to kill her if she confided it in anyone, police said.
The complainant along with the girl started searching for the accused in her neighbourhood since Sunday but couldn’t find him. “On Wednesday morning, we went to my brother-in-law’s house. My daughter spotted the security guard there and immediately informed me,” she said in her police complaint.
During investigation, it was found that the man was known to the girl’s father – a vegetable vendor. According to police, a medical examination of the girl at Civil Hospital in Sector 10 confirmed rape. An FIR was registered under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Pocso Act at Sector 29 station. “The man was arrested within hours of the FIR being filed. He was produced in court and sent to judicial custody,” police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.
