RANCHI: The special PMLA court on Thursday heard the argument in connection with a discharge petition filed by suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal, with her advocates arguing for around two-and a half hours for discharging her in the case related to MNREGA scam and money laundering.
The ED which is investigating the case, has made Singhal and others accused in the case. She is presently out of jail on interim bail.
During the hearing on point of framing charges, senior advocate Vishwajit Mukherjee and advocate Vikrant Sinha argued that it is still not clear whether the ED has completed its investigation and it would not be right to frame charges against her under the circumstances.
The advocates said though 16 FIRs were registered in connection with the MNREGA scam in Khunti, Singhal was not accused in them. Singhal was present in the court during the argument. The next hearing is scheduled on March 25.
