CHENNAI: The city may continue to be cloudy and could receive moderate or light
rain on Friday, the IMD said. The temperature is expected to be in the range of 30 to 33 degrees C.
A Met department forecast said that sky conditions are likely to be partly cloudy. “Thunderstorm and lightning with light or moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be 33°C-34°C and minimum temperature is likely to be 26°C-27°C.”
However, high humidity levels may make it inconvenient despite the on-and-off summer rain.
The trough that brought sporadic rain to the city in the last two days still exists over interior
Tamil Nadu but the incoming easterlies from the sea may make days feel hot and sweaty for the next few days. IMD has withdrawn rain forecast for the city.
Different parts of the city received steady shower in the early morning and afternoon on Thursday. The suburbs received more rain than the city. Nungambakkam recorded 0.2mm of rain but west Tambaram got 21.5 mm along with Chengalpet. Meenambakkam received 3.7mm while Kolappakkam got 6mm, OMR 4mm and Villivakkam 3mm of rain
Private weather bloggers say that the trough is likely to move to interior Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
