Kanpur: A five-year-old boy identified as
Yug alias Abhinav (5), who was allegedly kidnapped for ransom from Banarpur village under Dibiyapur police station area of Auraiya district on Wednesday morning, has been safely rescued by the police from Kasganj district late Wednesday night. The mastermind of the crime turned out to be a relative of the boy.
Police have arrested three accused from the spot and one following an encounter. They are being interrogated to ascertain the motive of the crime.
Auraiya superintendent of police Charu Nigam said that the child has been recovered safely with the help of Kasganj police, Special Task Force and other teams.
The arrested include Vishal, Kanhaiya, Rahul and a woman, the SP said, adding that “another accused, identified as Atul, is absconding”. Searches are underway to nab him. Police have also recovered two country-made pistols, several cartridges, besides a car and a two-wheeler from the arrested accused, Nigam said.
During interrogation, Vishal, who had opened fire at the cops and was arrested following an encounter, said that the plot to kidnap the child was made about two months ago.
Yug was kidnapped while he was playing outside his house in Banarpur village on Wednesday morning. Later, an unknown person called Yug's father Alok and demanded Rs 20 lakh as ransom for the safe release of the boy.
Additional director general of police Alok Singh announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for the police team that rescued the boy. Singh also appreciated the efforts of IG Kanpur (range) Prashant Kumar and Auraiya SP Charu Nigam.
