Clouds hover over Statue Circle in the city on Thursday
JAIPUR: With the prevailing anti-cyclonic circulation and active western disturbances many places in the state are likely to get hailstorm, rainfall and lightning on Saturday. Hailstorm would be witnessed in the districts including Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Sikar, Bikaner and Jaisalmer districts of the state. The Met office stated that this is going to be the last spell of the rainfall, lightning and hailstorm in many districts of the state as in the coming week weather is likely to be dry.
Due to the recent spell of hailstorm and rainfall, mercury took a dip in Jaipur as people woke up to a comparatively pleasant morning when a minimum temperature of 18.3 degree Celsius was recorded. It was followed by a cloudy and sultry afternoon with a maximum temperature of 30.8 degree Celsius. No rainfall was witnessed either in the Jaipur city or in other parts of the district.
Hailstorm, lightning and rainfall have already taken a toll on crops across the state especially in Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Bhilwara, Tonk, Bharatpur and Alwar districts of the state. “Rainfall and hail storm in the month of March so far has been unprecedented as rainfall in this month of harvesting is not expected,” said a senior officer of Jaipur Met office.
As no rainfall was witnessed on Thursday, majority of places witnessed a rise in their maximum and minimum temperatures. “An average rise of 4 degree Celsius was witnessed in the maximum and minimum temperatures across the state. However, this will dip as many districts will get hailstorms and rainfall on Saturday,” the officer added.
