AHMEDABAD: Kiran Patel, who was arrested from Kashmir while posing as a high-ranking officer of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), had allegedly duped the brother of a BJP leader, introducing himself as a property broker.
According to a complaint filed with the city crime branch, a Shilaj resident Jagdish Chavda, 63, the brother of a turncoat BJP leader Jawahar Chavda, said that Kiran and his wife Malini illegally occupied his bungalow worth Rs 15 crore. Kiran had promised Chavda that he would pay the money as he was supposed to get a big project from a large corporate house.
"Kiran, introducing himself as a property broker, approached my wife Ila Chavda in February 2022 and enquired if she wanted to sell our bungalow in Shilaj. After a few days, he met us and saw the bungalow," said Jagdish in the FIR.
Jagdish said that Kiran told him that he was fond of renovating bungalows and assured him to sell off the bungalow after renovation.
"He told me that he would renovate the bungalow and sell it for which he took Rs 35 lakh. Then, I went to my native place in Junagadh. When I returned, I found that he had put his nameplate outside my bungalow. He also performed a vaastu poojan of the bungalow," said Jagdish.
Jagdish said that when he asked Patel about this, he told him that he would buy the bungalow, mentions the FIR.
"Kiran told me that he had got some big projects from a big corporate house and once he gets paid, he will pay the money for the bungalow," said Jagdish. He said that Kiran left the house without completing the renovation.
Later in August 2022, Jagdish received a notice from the Ahmedabad district court regarding a suit filed against him by Kiran, alleging illegal possession of the bungalow. DCP, crime branch, Chaitanya Mandalik said that the city crime branch will take Kiran's custody from Srinagar police. Jagdish said that he had filed a plea before the city crime branch around eight months ago.
