Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Friday at 11:17AM

ADANIGREEN(up 2.53%), Adani Transmissions(up 1.78%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 1.20%), Karma Energy(up 1.10%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.61%), Inox Wind Energy(up 0.44%), NHPC(up 0.38%) and Hitachi Energy India(up 0.10%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 4.65%), Adani Power(down 3.18%), Orient Green Power Company(down 2.89%), Indowind Energy(down 2.84%), JSW Energy(down 2.60%), GE Power India Limited(down 2.32%), NLC India(down 1.77%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.74%), Suzlon Energy(down 1.29%) and PTC India(down 1.22%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 14.5 points down at 17062.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 20.24 points at 57945.52 at around 11:17AM.

Infosys(up 1.29%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.22%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.2%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.65%), Cipla(up 0.59%), Wipro(up 0.58%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.46%), Tech Mahindra(up 0.35%), ICICI Bank(up 0.34%) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.32%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 2.81%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.29%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.98%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.87%), Tata Steel(down 1.72%), SBI Life(down 1.05%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.05%), JSW Steel(down 1.0%), Britannia Industries(down 0.93%) and UPL Ltd(down 0.88%) were trading in the red.
